Abita Brewing Company Soda Review: Vanilla Cream, King Cake, and Root Beer

Today, Kevin and I will be tasting three beverages from the Abida Brewing Company: Vanilla Cream Soda, King Cake Soda, and Root Beer. These 12 oz bottles were priced at $1.79 each at Jungle Jim's International Market. While $1.79 might seem high, it’s actually quite affordable compared to similar beverages that typically cost over $2.

These drinks are caffeine-free, gluten-free, and made with pure Louisiana cane sugar and spring water. Each 12 oz bottle contains one serving, with the Vanilla Cream Soda totaling 180 calories. The bottles require a pry-off cap, which I prefer not to handle due to my delicate hands.

Vanilla Cream Soda Review

The Vanilla Cream Soda has a delightful butterscotch aroma. It’s very sweet and has a strong flavor. While there's a slight harshness, it balances the sweetness, making it more enjoyable and less syrupy. This is a cream soda I would enjoy regularly if I could afford the calories.

King Cake Soda Review

The King Cake Soda is a seasonal flavor with 160 calories per bottle. It smells spicy and tastes like a cinnamon roll, reminiscent of Cinnabon’s cinnamon sugar glaze. Although it has a slight bitter aftertaste, likely from the cinnamon, it's still delicious. It’s too sweet for frequent consumption but perfect as a seasonal treat.

Root Beer Review

The Root Beer, with 180 calories, is dark and thick. It's less sweet and has a stronger root beer flavor compared to brands like A&W and Barq’s. It has a slightly harsher taste but is still enjoyable. While it wouldn't be my first choice for regular purchase, I wouldn’t mind having it occasionally.

Favorites: Both Kevin and I prefer the Vanilla Cream Soda for regular drinking. The King Cake Soda is great as a seasonal option, and while the Root Beer is good, it’s not our top pick.

Have you tried any beverages from the Abida Brewing Company? These were the only options available at Jungle Jim's, but we'd love to hear about your experiences. Thanks for watching our review!
