Today, Kevin and I are excited to taste-test some Bergen brand cookies, a delightful product from Poland. We have four different flavors to sample: caramel peanut, classic Obsession, sweet strawberry, and juicy orange. All of these cookies were purchased at Jungle Jim's International Market for $1.99 per package.
Caramel Peanut Cookies First up, we have the caramel peanut cookies, which are coated in a white glaze. Each cookie contains 126 calories. As we bite into them, we notice a strong peanut flavor, almost like raw peanuts, but we miss the caramel taste entirely. The texture is quite crunchy, reminiscent of a shortbread cookie, but not as sweet as we expected.
Classic Obsession Cookies Next, we try the classic Obsession cookies. These cookies have a mix of raisins, hazelnuts, and peanuts, and each cookie contains 83 calories. The initial taste is surprisingly honey-like, but it quickly transitions to a strong raisin flavor. If you love raisins, this cookie will be a treat for you.
Peanut Butter Cookies The third flavor is peanut butter. These cookies look similar to Girl Scout cookies but are quite melty. Each cookie has 97 calories. The peanut flavor is prominent, but like the caramel peanut cookies, they lack sweetness. The texture is creamy, with ground peanuts embedded in the cookie.
Sweet Strawberry and Juicy Orange Cookies Lastly, we have the sweet strawberry and juicy orange cookies. The strawberry cookies are a bit chewy and have a slight honey flavor, with each cookie containing 77 calories. The orange cookies, with 82 calories each, have a marmalade-like taste, which is quite pleasant and refreshing.
Final Thoughts Among the four flavors, my favorite is the classic Obsession, with its strong raisin taste. Kevin prefers the caramel peanut cookies, appreciating the raw peanut flavor. Despite the lack of sweetness, we both enjoyed trying these unique cookies from Poland. At $1.99 per package, they are an affordable treat compared to other international snacks at Jungle Jim's.
