Chef Boyardee Cheese Ravioli Family Size Bag

Today, Kevin and I are trying the Chef Boyardee Cheese Ravioli. This family-size bag offers about 4.5 servings and costs $8.89 at Meijer. The package contains 40 oz or 2 lb 8 oz of ravioli stuffed with a cheese blend and covered in marinara sauce.

1. To prepare, you'll need the entire bag and 4 cups of water.

2. You can cook the full bag or half. For the full bag, add sauce from all four pouches and 4 cups of water to a deep 12-inch nonstick skillet.

3. Place the sauce pouches in the bottom of the pan to help them melt quicker, then add the ravioli on top.

4. Pour in the water, cover with a lid, and cook over medium-high heat for 11-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

After 6 minutes, most of the ice from the ravioli had melted. I flipped the ravioli to ensure they were evenly covered in sauce before covering them again. 

Once cooked, the ravioli was placed on a plate. Be careful as it can splatter during cooking. Chef Boyardee's ravioli offers delicious home-cooked Italian flavors with the convenience of a quick meal. Each cup (249g) contains 300 calories. The main ingredients include ricotta cheese, breadcrumbs, asiago cheese, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses, and tomato paste.

The ravioli is well-filled with cheese. While the pasta is slightly firm, it could be cooked a bit more for a softer texture. The cheese has a decent flavor but isn't highly seasoned, with most of the flavor coming from the tomato puree in the marinara sauce. The sauce is pleasantly tomatoey and not overly sweet.

You can enhance the dish by adding mozzarella or Parmesan cheese. Garlic bread or a salad would complement the meal well. 

Compared to other Chef Boyardee frozen family-size meals, this cheese ravioli is our favorite. It's better than the spaghetti and meatballs but slightly less flavorful than the Alfredo. With some additional seasoning or sides, it can be a satisfying meal for a family of four.
