Dole Whip: A Review

Today, Kevin and I are diving into the world of Dole Whip. Specifically, we’re trying the Dole brand's pineapple and strawberry flavors. Priced at $7.99 for four cups, this treat promises a taste trip to a tropical paradise.

The packaging is straightforward, featuring a clear piece of tape with instructions: leave out for 5 to 10 minutes for optimal creamy texture. Before filming, I prepped the cups by letting them sit for the recommended time.

A Taste of Paradise

Dole Whip is a delicious treat made with real fruit and no artificial ingredients. The last time we indulged in this delight was in Hawaii, where the experience was unforgettable due to the heat and exertion. We've also had Dole Whip at Disney World, where it first became popular.

Pineapple Dole Whip

This treat combines fruity smoothness with creamy satisfaction, all within your freezer. After trying it, we noticed that while it does have a strong coconut flavor, it lacks the sweetness of the original Disney version. The Disney Dole Whip is typically a perfect blend of pineapple and vanilla ice cream, but this version falls short.

Strawberry Dole Whip

The strawberry variant is similar, with the same coconut cream base but a strawberry puree. However, it has an odd aftertaste, reminiscent of strawberry lip gloss, which detracts from the overall experience.

Conclusion

Despite the convenience and health claims (110 calories per serving, non-GMO, gluten-free), the Dole Whip from the store does not live up to the original found at Disney or in Hawaii. It's not bad, but it’s also not great. At $2 per cup, it’s disappointing.

Final Thoughts

While the Dole Whip available in stores may be appealing due to its branding and health benefits, it doesn’t capture the magic of the original. If you're hoping to relive your Disney or Hawaiian Dole Whip experience, this isn't it. There are better frozen treats out there, like Italian ices or other fruit-based desserts, which provide a more satisfying flavor for your money.

In summary, this Dole Whip is a pass. Save your $8 and opt for something else.
