Ghost Protein Cereal Review: A Comprehensive Look at the Marshmallow and Peanut Butter Varieties

Today, Kevin and I are reviewing the new Ghost protein cereal, available at Walmart for $8.47 per 10.8 oz box (9.4 oz for the marshmallow variety). This specialty cereal is priced on the higher side, but that's common for diet-specific products. If you're on a particular diet and miss traditional cereal, you might consider this option.

Marshmallow Ghost Cereal

We started with the marshmallow variety, which includes plenty of marshmallows resembling those in Lucky Charms. Each serving provides 17 grams of protein and is marketed as an excellent source of protein and calcium. The box contains six servings, each with 170 calories before adding milk. However, considering the price, this equates to paying $8.47 for just six servings.

The marshmallows are traditional cereal marshmallows, adding a nice sweetness to the flavor. The cereal balls themselves, however, have a fibrous texture reminiscent of keto cereals, which might not appeal to everyone. Despite the texture, the flavor is quite enjoyable.

Peanut Butter Ghost Cereal

Next, we tried the peanut butter variety, which contains 18 grams of protein per serving. The flavor here is reminiscent of a sweet, natural peanut butter, similar to the peanut butter in Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch cereal. The texture issue persists, but the peanut butter coating somewhat masks the fibrous feel, making it more palatable than the marshmallow variant.

Overall Impressions

Both cereals have a good flavor, but the texture could be a deal-breaker for some. If you don't mind the texture typical of keto products, you might enjoy these cereals. However, if you're sensitive to this texture, the peanut butter variety is a better choice due to its coating.

For those needing high-protein cereals, Ghost cereals offer a good option. However, given the price and texture, you might find more satisfaction with protein shakes or bars.

Nutritional Comparison

Compared to regular cereals like Cheerios, Ghost protein cereals have higher protein content but also higher sodium levels. Carbs are lower in Ghost cereals, which might be beneficial depending on your dietary goals. Always check the nutritional label to ensure it meets your needs.

Conclusion

If you're looking for a protein-packed cereal and don't mind the unique texture, Ghost protein cereals could be a viable option. Between the two, the peanut butter flavor stands out. However, if texture is a significant concern, consider other protein sources.
