Graeter's Ice Cream Flavors Review: Mango Sorbet and Flying Pig Tracks
Today, Kevin and I are reviewing two Grater's flavors: Mango Sorbet and Flying Pig Tracks Ice Cream. Each pint cost $6.99, regardless of whether you choose sorbet or ice cream. Grater's, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is conveniently available at our local scoop shop here in Central Kentucky.

Mango Sorbet Review

Grater's Mango Sorbet is a French pot sorbet, available in one-pint containers. The ingredients are straightforward: water, cane sugar, mango puree concentrate, lemon juice, and sugar. With only five ingredients, it's a simple yet flavorful treat. Nutritionally, it offers three servings per container, with each serving (2/3 cup, 138g) containing 220 calories. The entire pint is 670 calories, which is quite reasonable. Additionally, it's gluten-free.

The sorbet has a soft texture, resembling the frozen orange juice concentrate found in small tubes. This sorbet is distinctly mango-flavored, ultra-sweet, and colder than typical ice cream, almost like a slushy. Its smooth, creamy texture is delightful, even for those who aren't big mango fans. It's an excellent palate cleanser after a heavy or spicy meal.

Flying Pig Tracks Ice Cream Review

Flying Pig Tracks Ice Cream combines chocolate fudge and peanut butter cups. This limited-edition flavor pays homage to Cincinnati’s pork-packing heritage, symbolized by the flying pigs that appeared at the city's Bicentennial Commons in the 1980s. Nutritionally, a serving size is 2/3 cup (142g), containing 430 calories, or 1,280 calories for the entire pint.

The ice cream is packed with mix-ins, including full mini peanut butter cups. The peanut butter cups have a snappy exterior, similar to a cookie. The ice cream is very cold, with a good blend of peanut butter and fudge. The fudge pieces add a rich, indulgent flavor, and the overall quality is high.

While the ice cream is delicious, a peanut butter base or a thick peanut butter swirl would enhance it even further. Nonetheless, it’s a treat worth trying, especially if you love peanut butter cups.

Conclusion

Both flavors offer unique and enjoyable experiences. The Mango Sorbet is a refreshing, fruity option, while the Flying Pig Tracks Ice Cream is a decadent treat for peanut butter lovers. Grater's consistently delivers quality, and these flavors are no exception. Thank you for watching, and check out the pictures at the end of the video for a closer look at these delicious treats.
