Today, Kevin and I are excited to try some of Graeter's ice creams for you. We have two flavors: Lemon Meringue Pie and Mint Cookies & Cream. Each pint was priced at $6.99 at the Graeter's Scoop Shop.
About Graeter's Ice Cream
Graeter's is a renowned ice cream brand based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fortunately for us in Lexington, there's a convenient scoop shop located in the Hamburg area, which offers good parking and easy access. This shop provides a variety of treats, including ice cream sandwiches, cakes, and pints. You can also enjoy an ice cream cone at one of their indoor or outdoor tables. Additionally, the shop sells candies, branded merchandise, and even dog treats.
Lemon Meringue Pie Ice Cream
The Lemon Meringue Pie flavor is a full pint of French pot ice cream, featuring lemon marshmallow ice cream with pie crust and tart lemon crunch. Each pint contains three servings, with 2/3 cup (141g) per serving, totaling 1,170 calories for the entire pint.
We've let the ice cream sit out for about 10 minutes, and it does not have a seal on top but is wrapped in plastic. Upon tasting, we found large pieces of pie crust that add a delightful crunch. The tart lemon crunch pieces are sugary and add a wonderful texture. The ice cream has a fresh lemon flavor without any artificial taste, and the sugary crystals provide a pleasant zing.
The pie pieces remain crunchy and not soggy, giving a real pie-like experience. Overall, the Lemon Meringue Pie ice cream is phenomenal, combining tart and sweet flavors perfectly. It's a must-try if you enjoy lemon desserts.
Mint Cookies & Cream Ice Cream
The Mint Cookies & Cream flavor combines America's favorite sandwich cookies (Oreo) with pure peppermint oil, creating a refreshing minty green ice cream. Each 2/3 cup (134g) serving contains 360 calories, totaling 1,080 calories for the entire pint.
The ice cream has a distinct peppermint flavor, reminiscent of a candy cane, complemented by the chocolate cookie pieces. While the peppermint flavor is strong, the Oreo pieces add to the overall taste without overpowering it. The texture is creamy and smooth, characteristic of Graeter's ice creams.
Conclusion
Between the two, the Lemon Meringue Pie stands out as the favorite. Its unique combination of lemon, marshmallow, and crunchy pie pieces make it an exceptional choice. The Mint Cookies & Cream is also good, offering a refreshing peppermint flavor, though it doesn't have the same standout quality as the lemon flavor.
Graeter's ice cream consistently delivers high-quality, creamy, and delicious flavors. If you're in Lexington, visiting the Graeter's Scoop Shop is highly recommended. With a range of flavors and treats, it's a delightful experience for any ice cream lover.
