Grandma Belle’s (Lil’ Turtles): Sweet & Spicy Bread & Butter Pickles and Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles

Today, Kevin and I are excited to review Grandma Belle's pickles. We have the Sweet and Spicy Bread and Butter Pickles and the Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles, kindly sent to us by Asma from Ohio. We've previously reviewed Grandma Bells products, and today we'll dive into these new flavors.

Grandma Bells pickles are made by L Turtles, a family-owned business in Baltic, Ohio. While L Turtles is primarily known for their delicious chocolates, they also produce high-quality specialty foods, including these pickles. You can find more about them at llt.com.

Sweet and Spicy Bread and Butter Pickles

These pickles come in a jar with 14 servings (6 chips per serving, 32 grams) at 35 calories per serving. The ingredients are simple: cucumbers, sugar, onions, water, white distilled vinegar, bell peppers, pepper flakes, salt, mustard seed, celery seed, and turmeric.

Upon opening the jar, we found large chunks of onion and pepper. The pickles are crunchy and very flavorful, with a strong vinegar presence and a sweetness that quickly transitions to a spicy kick. The heat comes from the pepper flakes, making these pickles hotter than your typical bread and butter variety.

While we found the heat a bit intense, we appreciated the quality and flavor. These pickles would be excellent on a burger or sandwich, adding a spicy crunch. They could also be chopped and used as a relish in dishes like egg salad for an added kick.

Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles

The Sweet Garlic Dill Pickles also offer 14 servings (6 chips per serving, 25 calories). Their ingredients include cucumbers, sugar, water, white distilled vinegar, salt, dill seed, and garlic.

These pickles are crunchy with a predominant sweet flavor, although the garlic is subtle. They taste more like a sweet pickle than a traditional garlic dill. We enjoyed their crispness and found them suitable for burgers or sandwiches.

Both varieties of Grandma Bells pickles are low in calories, making them a great option for those on a low-calorie diet. They are perfect for snacking straight from the jar or incorporating into your meals.

We highly recommend trying these pickles, whether you're a fan of sweet and spicy flavors or prefer a milder, sweet garlic dill. If you're interested, you can contact Asma for more information on purchasing.
