Heinz Tomato Ketchup Flavors: Pickle, Chipotle, Jalapeno, and Habanero

Today, Kevin and I are tasting different Heinz Tomato Ketchup flavors: Pickle, Chipotle, Jalapeno, and Habanero. Each flavor offers a unique twist on the classic condiment, with prices varying widely depending on where you buy them.

  • Pickle Ketchup: $4.68 at Walmart
  • Chipotle Ketchup: $3.58 at Walmart
  • Jalapeno Ketchup: $3.98 at Walmart
  • Habanero Ketchup: $0.99 at Kroger (most expensive when compared at $4.99 at Kroger)

We started with the Pickle flavor. The ketchup comes in easy-to-use upside-down containers, but be sure to shake them well to avoid any watery separation. We paired our tasting with crispy baked chicken to get a good sense of the flavors.

Pickle Flavor Ketchup

Heinz Pickle Ketchup combines the thick and rich texture of classic Heinz with a bold, tangy pickle twist. At just 15 calories per tablespoon, it's a guilt-free addition to any meal. The pickle flavor is strong but not overpowering, maintaining a good balance with the underlying ketchup. This could be a great time-saver for pickle lovers, eliminating the need to add separate pickle slices to your burgers or sandwiches.

Chipotle Flavor Ketchup

The Chipotle flavor ketchup has a 2 out of 6 heat rating and offers a smoky, earthy flavor. At 20 calories per tablespoon, it adds a nice smokiness without overwhelming heat, making it perfect for adding a unique twist to fries, onion rings, or burgers. The smoky flavor stands out, adding depth to the familiar ketchup taste.

Jalapeno Flavor Ketchup

Next, we tried the Jalapeno flavor, rated 4 out of 6 on the heat scale. Despite its higher rating, the heat was less intense than expected. The flavor didn't capture the green, fresh taste typically associated with jalapenos, and the heat built up gradually without overwhelming. At 20 calories per tablespoon, it still adds a bit of kick but falls short in delivering a distinctive jalapeno flavor.

Habanero Flavor Ketchup

Lastly, we sampled the Habanero ketchup, with a heat rating of 5 out of 6. This flavor brought a bright and fiery kick, with the heat building gradually and lingering longer than the other varieties. It delivers a stronger burn, especially compared to the Chipotle, but is still manageable for those who enjoy spicy foods. The Habanero flavor would be great for those looking to add a significant heat boost to their meals.

Conclusion

Our favorites were the Pickle and Chipotle flavors. The Pickle ketchup offers a unique, tangy taste that can save you from adding extra condiments, while the Chipotle ketchup provides a rich smokiness that complements many dishes. The Jalapeno flavor, unfortunately, didn't deliver the distinct jalapeno taste we were hoping for, and the Habanero, while flavorful, might be too spicy for everyday use.
