Today, Kevin and I are reviewing two products from Homes Made: the Smoky Cowboy Mustard and the Cowboy Candy, a candied jalapeño relish. These were generously sent to us by Michael—thank you very much, Michael!

Smoky Cowboy Mustard
First, we'll try the Smoky Cowboy Mustard. This product should be refrigerated after opening. Each teaspoon (5g) contains just 5 calories. The ingredients include prepared yellow mustard, sugar, jalapeño pepper, water, onion, cider vinegar, natural smoke flavor, and salt.
To give the mustard a fair test, we're pairing it with baked chicken, a versatile food that complements many flavors. Be cautious, as this mustard is intensely hot. The jalapeño peppers significantly amplify the heat, making it necessary to use sparingly unless you love extremely spicy foods.
Cowboy Candy Jalapeño Relish
Next, we have the Cowboy Candy, a sweet and hot candied jalapeño relish. This 14-ounce jar contains 79 servings, with each teaspoon offering 15 calories. The ingredients include jalapeño, water, sugar, onion, cider vinegar, mustard seeds, garlic powder, celery seeds, and spices, including turmeric.
This relish has a more balanced heat, with a pleasant sweetness. It works well with chicken and could be an excellent topping for hot dogs or other meats. Unlike traditional pickle relish, it focuses on the flavor of jalapeños, providing a unique, softer texture without a strong vinegar presence.
Verdict
Both products are flavorful, but they cater to different heat preferences. The Smoky Cowboy Mustard is extremely hot and best used in small quantities. In contrast, the Cowboy Candy Jalapeño Relish offers a milder, sweeter heat that can be used more liberally.
Homes Made also offers a variety of other products, including sauces, fruit spreads, pickles, relishes, mustards, and barbecue sauces. Their products are available in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. For more information on where to buy, visit their website.
