Today, Kevin and I are excited to try some Milka Ice Cream brand frozen dessert bars: Butter Cookie, Caramel Crunch, and Strawberry Cheesecake. These treats were priced at $7.79 each at Jungle Jim’s International Market. While each box contains only three bars, the higher cost is understandable given that these products are imported and not made in the USA.
Upon inspecting the packaging, we noticed there was no English text on the box. It features instructions and descriptions in six different languages, but none in English, indicating they likely didn't anticipate these bars being sold here. Interestingly, there isn't even a sticker with translated information, which is typically added to imported goods.
Butter Cookie Ice Cream Bar
The Butter Cookie bar is made with alpine milk chocolate and features a butter cookie layer. Each bar contains 243 calories and is generously sized. Despite the long journey, these bars arrived in better condition than some ice cream bars we've purchased from local stores.
The chocolate coating is rich and smooth, while the butter cookie layer adds a delightful flavor. The cookie pieces within the bar aren't crunchy but add a pleasant texture. Overall, the buttery flavor is prominent and enjoyable.
Caramel Crunch Ice Cream Bar
Next, we tried the Caramel Crunch bar, which is 215 calories. This bar has a swirl of caramel, although the caramel flavor isn't very strong. The crunchy bits on the outside resemble rice cereal but taste more like a corn-based cereal. Despite the subtle caramel, the bar is delicious, with the cereal-like pieces adding a nice texture.
Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Bar
Lastly, the Strawberry Cheesecake bar contains 214 calories. This bar is a standout, with a robust strawberry flavor. The crunchy exterior pieces have a gritty sugar texture similar to a graham cracker crust, though they don't taste exactly like one. While the bar doesn't have a strong cheesecake flavor, the strawberry is refreshing and pairs well with the chocolate coating.
Final Thoughts
All three Milab frozen dessert bars are tasty, but preferences will vary:
