Planters Nut Duos – Espresso Hazelnuts & Cocoa Cashews, Ranch Almonds & Buffalo Cashews

Today, Kevin and I are trying some Planters Nut Duos. I have a sweet combination of espresso-flavored hazelnuts and cocoa-flavored cashews, while Kevin has ranch almonds and buffalo cashews. We purchased these for $4.79 each at Target. Although there was supposed to be a green bag option, it wasn't available in our area.

Packaging and Nutritional Information

The espresso and cocoa nut duo offers an indulgent flavor combination, pairing the crunch of hazelnuts with the creaminess of cashews. Each nut is specially roasted for its unique flavor, making them great to snack on individually or together. This variety contains nuts sourced from Vietnam, Cambodia, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Turkey.

The ranch and buffalo nut duo combines the crunchy texture of almonds with the creaminess of cashews, flavored with ranch and buffalo seasoning. Each 30g serving contains 170 calories.

Tasting and Review

Espresso Hazelnuts & Cocoa Cashews

- Cocoa Cashews: The cocoa cashews are powder-coated rather than sugar-coated. They have a firm yet soft texture and a subtle sweetness, without a harsh or bitter taste.
- Espresso Hazelnuts: These hazelnuts have a sweet caramel-like flavor with a hint of espresso, although the hazelnut flavor is more prominent.
- Combined Flavor: When eaten together, the flavors complement each other well. The hazelnut's stronger flavor pairs nicely with the cashew's creamy texture.

Ranch Almonds & Buffalo Cashews

- *Ranch Almonds: The ranch flavor is strong and pairs well with the crunchy texture of the almonds.
- Buffalo Cashews: The buffalo flavor is mild, lacking the bold heat typically associated with buffalo seasoning. It's not too spicy, making it suitable for those who prefer milder flavors.
- Combined Flavor: The ranch flavor dominates, with the buffalo flavor being subtle. The texture combination is pleasant, and the cashew flavor is more noticeable in this duo compared to the cocoa version.

Final Thoughts

Both nut duos offer unique flavor combinations that cater to different taste preferences. The espresso hazelnuts and cocoa cashews provide a sweeter option, while the ranch almonds and buffalo cashews offer a savory alternative. While I prefer the sweeter combination, nothing beats a classic can of Planters salted peanuts or mixed nuts for a satisfying snack.
