Welcome back to Five Minute Eats! Today, we're diving into a new snack: Snack Club Tajín Mango Rings. These chili and lime-seasoned mango-flavored gummy rings are sprinkled with Tajín seasoning and rated as mildly spicy, one fire out of three. This 7 oz bag is priced at $2.99 at Target.
We've previously reviewed the peach version, which received mixed reactions. While one of us loved them, the other did not. Despite that, more peach rings were purchased along with the watermelon version, which became a favorite, so much so that they were consumed before a review could be done. Now, we're turning our attention to the mango variety.
For those new to our channel, we review everyday grocery items to help you decide if they're worth your money. Let's dig into these Tajín Mango Rings.
These rings are quite tough and take some effort to pull apart. They are not your typical gummy rings, offering a different texture experience. This toughness is a creative twist that may help brands stand out in the competitive snack market. As consumers increasingly enjoy spicy foods, combining flavors like mango with chili and lime could be a winning strategy.
Tajín is a seasoning blend of chili pepper, sea salt, citric acid, and lime juice. It's typically found in the Hispanic food aisle, where you'd also find tortillas and refried beans. However, at Target, these mango rings are located on the end caps for easy access.
Upon opening the bag, the smell of Tajín is evident, but there's also a distinct mango aroma, albeit from artificial flavoring. Let's see how they taste.
Our rating system is simple: thumbs up if we’d buy it again, thumbs down if we wouldn't. For me, it's a thumbs down. I was excited about the mango flavor, but it was disappointing. The combination of Tajín and the artificial mango flavor just didn’t work. It tasted more like a strange orange flavor than mango. Compared to the peach rings, these are less appealing. I haven’t tried the watermelon rings, but I suspect they’re better than these.
For me, it's also a thumbs down. The mango flavor didn’t come through as expected. It tasted like an underripe mango, which may be where the citrus note comes from. The Tajín flavor was fine, but the overall taste was off. It didn’t blend well with the artificial mango, making the Tajín taste slightly bitter. I still believe the watermelon rings are superior.
To sum up: thumbs down from both of us. If you want to support our channel, use our Amazon links when you shop. We earn a small commission that helps us continue to create content.
