Today, Kevin and I are excited to review two Schogetten candy bars. I have the Latte Macchiato, while Kevin will try the Winter Edition, which features Maple and Hazelnut flavors. We purchased these bars for $2.49 each at Jungle Jim's International Market. Typically, we find Schogetten at Aldi, so it's interesting to see them available at Jungle Jim's, where they had a wide variety to choose from. We may have tried these flavors before, but we’ll taste them again for this review.

Latte Macchiato Review
I personally did not enjoy the Latte Macchiato flavor. It reminded me of crunchy chocolate-covered coffee beans, a taste I’ve never liked. Kevin agreed, noting that the coffee flavor is quite strong and somewhat bitter, similar to coffee that has been sitting out all day. While the texture of the chocolate is pleasant and smooth, the coffee flavor is too overpowering for our tastes. However, if you enjoy chocolate-covered coffee beans, this might be the perfect choice for you.
Maple and Hazelnut Review
The Maple and Hazelnut flavor was a more enjoyable experience. The maple flavor is light and delicate, providing a subtle sweetness that complements the hazelnut. The chocolate also contains small sugar crystals that add a delightful crunch. While the hazelnut flavor could be stronger, the combination of flavors works well together. This bar would be excellent for incorporating into desserts like pancakes or yogurt.
Seasonal Editions and Expiration Dates
Don't be deterred by the "limited winter edition" label. Despite the seasonal packaging, these bars are good until the end of July, giving you plenty of time to enjoy them. Always check the expiration date, as seasonal editions can be enjoyed year-round.
Conclusion
Overall, the Maple and Hazelnut flavor was a hit, while the Latte Macchiato wasn't to our taste. However, both flavors have their unique appeal. If you love the taste of coffee beans or delicate maple sweetness, give these Schogetten candy bars a try.
