Seasonal Popcorn: S’mores & Cotton Candy Caramel Corn Popcorn and Dill Pickle Popcorn Review

Today, Kevin and I are trying out some seasonal popcorn varieties from Favorite Day, including caramel corn and other flavored popcorns. These seasonal offerings make us wonder why these delicious flavors aren't available year-round. While Favorite Day is known for bringing certain popcorns to the seasonal section, it's unclear if they offer popcorn all year long.

We have three different flavors to review: Cotton Candy, S'mores, and Dill Pickle. Each bag was priced at $4, with varying sizes: 11 oz, 4.5 oz, and 12.5 oz respectively.

Cotton Candy Popcorn Review

This flavor comes in an 11 oz bag, with 11 servings per container. Each serving of one cup (28 grams) is 100 calories.

The cotton candy flavor is noticeable in the first bite but quickly fades into a generic sweet popcorn taste. The popcorn is a bit hard and has a lot of hulls, which can be tough on the teeth. The aroma is stronger than the flavor, and while it's not bad, it doesn't strongly resemble typical cotton candy products.

S'mores Caramel Corn Review

The S'mores caramel corn comes in a 12.5 oz bag, with 12 servings per container. Each serving of half a cup (28 grams) is 110 calories. This flavor features caramel corn with milk chocolate drizzle, graham cracker crumbs, and mini marshmallows.

The drizzle makes this popcorn softer and much sweeter than the cotton candy flavor. It's well-coated and has a rich chocolatey taste, although it doesn't quite capture the full s'mores experience. The graham cracker presence is minimal, making it taste more like chocolate caramel corn. Despite this, it’s very enjoyable and highly sweet, which may be too much for some people.

Dill Pickle Popcorn Review

The Dill Pickle flavor comes in a smaller 4.5 oz bag, with 12 servings per container. Each serving of two cups (28 grams) is 130 calories.

This popcorn has a strong vinegary taste with only a hint of dill. The texture is nice and soft, making it easy to eat, but it lacks the distinct dill flavor found in other brands like Trader Joe's. While it's still tasty and has a good amount of powder, it doesn't deliver the full dill pickle experience that some might expect.

Final Thoughts

Among the three flavors, the S'mores caramel corn is our favorite, thanks to its rich chocolate drizzle and softer texture. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, the Cotton Candy popcorn is decent but not exceptional. The Dill Pickle popcorn is enjoyable for its vinegary taste, though it doesn't quite hit the mark on the dill flavor.
