Tony’s Chocolonely: Everything Bar & Milk Chocolate Caramel Cookie Review

Today, Kevin and I are sampling two varieties of Tony's Chocolonely bars: Milk Chocolate Caramel Cookie and the Everything Bar. Each bar costs $5.99 at World Market and weighs 6.35 oz (180 g), making them quite hefty.

Milk Chocolate Caramel Cookie

Upon opening the Milk Chocolate Caramel Cookie bar, we noticed its chunky appearance. Despite its familiar look, we couldn't recall if we had tried this specific bar before, so we decided to give it another go. Tony's Chocolonely is a favorite for many chocolate enthusiasts, though it isn't my personal top choice. I enjoy trying new flavors or revisiting ones I haven't had in a while.

This bar contains six servings, with each 30 g serving amounting to 160 calories. The first bite revealed a hard, almost brittle caramel, which was somewhat off-putting. While the milk chocolate and cookie pieces were delightful, the hard caramel bits disrupted the overall experience. The chewy caramel pieces were also less enjoyable, making the texture uneven and challenging to eat.

Despite the delicious chocolate and cookie combination, the caramel's inconsistency detracted from the bar's appeal. A softer caramel would have significantly improved the experience.

Everything Bar

The Everything Bar, made in Belgium, features milk chocolate with caramel, pretzel, almond nougat, and sea salt. Each 30 g serving is also 160 calories. The bar's diverse ingredients create a complex and enjoyable flavor profile.

From the first bite, the salty pretzel and chocolate combination stood out. The bar also had a toffee-like element, reminiscent of a Heath bar, which was delightful. Although the almonds added texture, their flavor was subtle compared to the other ingredients.

The caramel in this bar was much more agreeable than in the Milk Chocolate Caramel Cookie bar. It blended well with the other elements, adding a sticky, sweet touch without being too hard. The sea salt was the standout feature, enhancing the overall taste and making each bite an explosion of flavors.

Conclusion

Between the two, the Everything Bar is the clear winner. Its mix of sweet, salty, and crunchy elements makes it one of the best Tony's Chocolonely bars we've ever tried. The Milk Chocolate Caramel Cookie bar, while tasty, is marred by its overly hard caramel pieces. If Tony's Chocolonely used a softer caramel, it would be much more enjoyable.

For those who enjoy a blend of flavors and textures, the Everything Bar is highly recommended. It's a testament to how well different ingredients can complement each other when balanced correctly. We'll definitely be reaching for this bar again.
