Triscuit Thin Crisps: A Snack Review

Today, Kevin and I are trying four flavors of Triscuit Thin Crisps: Original with Sea Salt, Tomato Basil Pizza, Applewood Barbecue, and Sour Cream & Onion. These cost $3.99 each at Meijer. While there might be more flavors available, these are the ones we found.

We previously tried the Sour Cream & Onion flavor, but it's been a long time, so we wanted to revisit it. Triscuit Thin Crisps seemed like a great snack, especially since we already enjoy Triscuits. My favorite so far has been the Black Pepper flavor.

Original with Sea Salt

The Original flavor maintains the classic Triscuit texture, similar to shredded wheat cereal. However, these are less oily and less salty than regular Triscuits, making them somewhat plain. These would be best used as a base for dips to add more flavor.

Tomato Basil Pizza

The Tomato Basil Pizza flavor has 140mg of sodium per serving (14 crackers, 130 calories). It has a robust flavor profile dominated by tomato and basil, reminiscent of pizza sauce. This flavor is potent enough to be enjoyed on its own without the need for additional dips.

Applewood Barbecue

The Applewood Barbecue flavor offers a sweet and smoky barbecue taste, akin to sweet barbecue potato chips. This flavor also has 130 calories per 14 crackers. Its ingredients are straightforward, with no artificial additives, making it a flavorful and wholesome snack option.

Sour Cream & Onion

The Sour Cream & Onion flavor, despite its strong aroma, lacks the bold taste typically expected from sour cream and onion snacks. It doesn’t compare favorably to other flavors and doesn’t deliver the expected intensity of seasoning. This is one we would likely skip in the future.

Conclusion

Among the flavors we tried, the Tomato Basil Pizza and Applewood Barbecue stood out as favorites due to their robust flavors that don't require additional dips. The Original is best suited for those who prefer a milder taste or plan to pair it with flavorful dips. While the Sour Cream & Onion was a bit underwhelming, overall, Triscuit Thin Crisps offer a tasty and low-calorie snack option.
