Today, Kevin and I are reviewing Whole Foods Market's quick baking cookies. We tried two flavors: Lemon Cheesecake and Snickerdoodle. Each box costs $7.99 for 14.1 ounces (400 grams) and contains eight cookies, making them $1 per cookie.
Baking Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Remove the frozen cookies from the package.
3. Arrange the cookies on a baking tray.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 7 minutes.
5. Allow cookies to cool slightly for 2 minutes before enjoying warm.
The cookies come frozen, so you can bake as many or as few as you want at a time.
Preparation and Review:
I preheated my oven to 350°F and used parchment paper for easy cleanup, though it’s not necessary if you have a non-stick pan. I placed two cookies on the tray; these cookies do not spread much during baking, so they don’t need to be spaced far apart. After 7 minutes, I took the cookies out of the oven.
Taste and Texture
- Lemon Cheesecake Cookies: These cookies have a soft, almost underbaked texture with a pleasant lemon flavor that isn’t overpowering. They contain cage-free eggs, real butter, unbleached enriched wheat flour, white chocolate chips, lemon zest, and other natural ingredients. At 200 calories per cookie, they’re not a low-calorie option.
- Snickerdoodle Cookies: These are similarly soft and slightly underbaked, with a flavor profile that hints at apple despite having no apple ingredients. The main flavors are cinnamon and sugar, and each cookie is 210 calories.
Final Thoughts
While both cookies have a good flavor and soft texture, we felt they were too underbaked, giving them a raw cookie dough taste. They are not worth $1 per cookie, especially considering Whole Foods' own bakery offers larger, better value cookies. For those who enjoy a crispier cookie, these might not be satisfying, as they are designed to be gooey and soft.
Conclusion
Overall, as tasty as these cookies are, we would not purchase them again due to their high price and underbaked texture. Instead, we recommend exploring other options available at Whole Foods' bakery or opting for more affordable alternatives like Oreos.
