Davosa Argonautic vs. Omega Seamaster 300M: Diver Watch Showdown (2024 Update)

Welcome to Wrong Time Watch. My name is Kevin, and in this article, we’re comparing the Doxa Argonautic and the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M. The Doxa is priced at $1,029, while the Omega retails for $5,900. Both watches are rated for 300 meters of water resistance and feature helium release valves. 

The Omega Seamaster’s release valve is fixed, which I am familiar with. The Doxa, on the other hand, has a screw-down release valve, a system I was previously unaware of.

These watches are similar in appearance and size. The Doxa measures 42mm, while the Omega is slightly larger at 43mm. The Doxa has a ceramic bezel insert, known for its scratch resistance, while the Omega uses a hardened stainless steel bezel, which offers similar durability without the risk of shattering.

The Doxa features a flat sapphire crystal, which I prefer over the Omega’s domed crystal. The bezel on the Doxa is easier to turn, offering better grip compared to the Seamaster’s bezel, which is flush with the case and can be more challenging to operate.

The Doxa uses T25 tritium gas tubes for consistent lume brightness over long periods, while the Omega’s initial lume is brighter but fades quicker. After several hours, the Doxa’s lume remains visible, maintaining its brightness for years due to the tritium gas.

The Omega is METAS certified, ensuring high accuracy with a power reserve of 55 hours. It features a coaxial movement with 8 beats per second. The Doxa, equipped with a basic Sellita SW200 movement, has a 38-hour power reserve and 7 beats per second.

Wearability

The Doxa, with its longer lugs and heavier weight, feels substantial on the wrist. The Omega, though lighter, offers a refined clasp system with easier micro-adjustment.

Both watches offer unique features and build quality. The Omega, with its higher price, provides more advanced materials and movement certification, while the Doxa offers excellent lume longevity and a robust design at a fraction of the cost.
