Glashütte Original 7S Chronograph Panorama Date: A Detailed Review

In this article, we'll be taking a close look at the stunning Glashütte Original 7S Chronograph Panorama Date. This luxurious timepiece boasts a flyback chronograph complication, an integrated bracelet, and a stunning green dial.

First Impressions and Design

This is the first Glashütte Original watch I've reviewed on this channel, and it's definitely one of their most impressive models. The 7S Chronograph draws inspiration from the 1970s era of integrated bracelet sports watches. The retail price is highly competitive compared to other popular integrated bracelet chronographs like the Girard-Perregaux Laureato or the TAG Heuer Monaco.

Glashütte Original is a renowned German luxury watchmaker known for their exquisite quality. After spending a week with the 7S Chronograph, I can confidently say the build quality is exceptional. The watch is on the thicker side, which is understandable given the number of complications it houses.

The green dial on this particular model is a matte, larch green that's both elegant and subtle. The gradient effect, with a darker edge transitioning to a lighter center, adds a unique touch. Despite the numerous features, the dial remains well-balanced and symmetrical.

Key Features and Functionality

The case features a combination of polished and satin finishes that complement the bracelet beautifully. The case size is 40mm x 40mm, and the watch measures 14.1mm thick. It boasts a true double-digit Panorama date complication, which is a joy to use. The date can be adjusted using a discreet button on the case.

The 7S Chronograph also features a handy power reserve indicator, a flyback chronograph complication, and a hacking mechanism that stops the movement when the crown is pulled. The movement itself is beautifully decorated, arguably one of the best in its price range. It also features Glashütte Original's signature swan neck regulator and a partially gold rotor.

The watch offers 100 meters of water resistance and a screw-down crown, making it suitable for everyday wear. The hour and minute hands, as well as the markers, are coated with Super-LumiNova for low-light visibility.

The bracelet is well-made with polished center links and a clasp with a brilliant quick-adjust system. This system makes it easy to adjust the bracelet size while the watch is still on your wrist.

Comfort and Wearability

While the watch is undeniably stunning, it's important to consider its thickness. Due to its profile, it might not be suitable for everyone's taste and may wear larger than its size suggests. While I was able to pull it off, it wasn't the most comfortable watch on my 17cm wrist. The design, however, helps with wearability, making it surprisingly versatile for various occasions. However, the thickness might make it challenging to wear under formal shirt cuffs.

Final Thoughts

The Glashütte Original 7S Chronograph is an incredible timepiece that offers a unique blend of luxury, functionality, and style. It was a pleasure to spend time with this watch, and I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the market for a high-end sports chronograph.
