Andy Capp’s: Hot Fries & BBQ Fries, Wise Loose Screws Nacho Cheese, Hostess Ding Dongs Popcorn

Today, Kevin and I are reviewing a mix of random snacks we found at Dollar Tree. These include Hostess Ding Dongs flavored popcorn, Wise Loose Screws Nacho Cheese corn chips, and Andy Capp's Barbecue Fries and Fire Fries. Each of these snacks cost $1.25 at Dollar Tree.

This 2.25 oz (70 g) bag claims to bring the chocolatey flavor of Ding Dongs into a light, crispy popcorn form. With 190 calories per 50 g serving, it is produced in a nut-free facility in Canada.

However, our taste test revealed a disappointment. The popcorn had a Cracker Jack-like flavor but with imitation chocolate instead of caramel. The chocolate tasted cheap, and the overall experience was underwhelming. Hostess, unfortunately, missed the mark with this product.

This 3.5 oz (99 g) bag from Wise Foods, distributed in Berwick, Pennsylvania, contains about 3.5 servings with 160 calories per 28 g (1 oz) serving.

These chips surprised us with their good corn flavor and light cheese taste. While they are more corn-forward than cheese-heavy, the saltiness adds a nice touch. These chips are not as hard as Fritos and have a pleasing texture. The bag offers good value for $1.25, making it a worthwhile purchase.

Each 3 oz (85 g) bag offers three servings of barbecue-flavored fries with 140 calories per 28 g serving. Distributed by ConAgra in Chicago, Illinois, these fries have a promising smoky flavor but fall short on intensity. They taste more like a generic fry with a hint of barbecue rather than delivering a strong punch.

These Fire Fries have a similar serving size and caloric content to the Barbecue Fries. The hot sauce and cayenne pepper give them a significant kick, making them quite spicy. While they deliver on heat, the vinegary pepper flavor might be too overpowering for some.

Andy Capp's Hot Fries are not gluten-free. They contain wheat flour, which is a source of gluten. Therefore, they are not suitable for individuals with gluten intolerance or celiac disease.

The standout snack for us was the Wise Loose Screws Nacho Cheese corn chips. They offered a delightful combination of corn flavor, light cheese, and saltiness. Andy Capp's Barbecue Fries, though decent, lacked the robust barbecue flavor we hoped for. The Fire Fries delivered a strong heat but may not be suitable for everyone. Hostess Ding Dongs flavored popcorn was a letdown, tasting like cheap chocolate-covered popcorn.
