Baker’s Treat (Aldi) Mini Muffins: Strawberry, Banana & Chocolate Chip Review

Today, Kevin and I are sampling Baker Treat Mini Muffins from Aldi. We have three flavors to try: Chocolate Chip, Strawberry, and Banana. Each pack was priced at $2.69.

Product Overview

Baker Treat is an Aldi brand known for offering budget-friendly baked goods. These mini muffins boast zero grams of trans fat and no high fructose corn syrup.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Packaging: The packaging for the Chocolate Chip muffins was slightly different, with some boxes featuring a sticker seal and others glued shut. This may be a recent change to prevent tampering.

Calories: Each muffin contains 55 calories, with a total of 220 calories per pack of four muffins.

Taste Test: Unfortunately, these muffins were quite dry. The chocolate chips had an unusual flavor that we didn't enjoy. While not inedible, we wouldn't recommend them. They remind us of some subpar baked goods we've tried from other discount stores.

Strawberry Muffins

Calories: Each pack contains 170 calories, making each muffin around 42.5 calories.

Taste Test: The Strawberry muffins were softer than the Chocolate Chip variety but still quite dry. The strawberry flavor was mild and not very pronounced. While they were better than the Chocolate Chip muffins, they still weren't up to par with other brands we've tried.

Banana Muffins

Calories: Each Banana muffin is 42.5 calories, totaling 170 calories per pack.

Taste Test: The Banana muffins were a pleasant surprise. They had a moist, sticky texture reminiscent of banana bread and a lovely banana flavor without being too sweet. These were by far our favorite and the only ones we would consider purchasing again.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Banana muffins were the standout, with a good texture and flavor. The Chocolate Chip and Strawberry muffins were disappointing, mainly due to their dryness and lack of strong flavor. If you're shopping at Aldi, we recommend trying the Banana muffins, but you might want to skip the other flavors.
