Clancy's Chips: Baked Ripples and Kettle Chips Flavor Analysis
Today, Kevin and I are diving into a variety of Clancy's chips, focusing on their key features to give you a comprehensive review. We sampled four flavors: Baked Ripples in Sour Cream & Onion and Ranch, and Kettle Chips in Everything but the Bagel and Hot Honey.

Baked Ripples: Sour Cream & Onion

The Weight and Price are 6.25 oz bags priced at $2.89. The Health Benefits is Gluten-free with 80% less fat than regular potato chips.
The Serving Size and Calories are 1 oz (28g) serving, approximately 13 crisps, contains 110 calories.

The texture is more akin to a thin cracker than a traditional potato chip, offering a sweet onion flavor rather than a distinct sour cream taste. The crunch is satisfying without being hard.

Strong onion flavor, enjoyable texture, and a good alternative for those seeking a lower-fat chip option. We would buy these again for their unique texture and flavor profile.

Ranch

6.25 oz bags priced at $2.89. Gluten-free with 80% less fat than regular potato chips. 1 oz (28g) serving, approximately 13 crisps, contains 110 calories. Similar thin cracker-like texture as the Sour Cream & Onion variety. The ranch flavor is subtle and lacks the distinctiveness of classic ranch dressings like Hidden Valley. The flavor is too light and does not meet expectations for a strong ranch taste. These are not a standout and we would not purchase them again.

Kettle Chips

The Weight and Price are 8 oz bags priced at $1.95. Serving Size and Calories are 1 oz (28g) serving, approximately 12 chips, contains 150 calories.
Those Ingredients are potatoes, vegetable oil, onion powder, poppy seeds, garlic powder, cane sugar, sesame seeds, sesame seed oil, sea salt.

As expected with kettle chips, these are very crunchy but softer than some other kettle chips due to their thinness. The primary flavor detected is onion, with a hint of poppy seeds and other seasonings. The chips are quite oily. While the texture is excellent, the flavor doesn't fully capture the essence of everything bagel seasoning. They are enjoyable but not as flavorful as we hoped. We prefer these over the Hot Honey variety.

Hot Honey

The Weight is 8 oz bags priced at $1.95. The Serving Size and Calories are 1 oz (28g) serving, approximately 12 chips, contains 150 calories. The Ingredients are turmeric, paprika, smoke flavor, sea salt, honey powder, fructose. These chips have a sweet taste initially, followed by a slow-building heat. The texture is consistent with kettle chips, being crunchy and slightly oily. The combination of sweet and spicy is intriguing, but the heat may be too intense for some. The flavor is unique, but not one we would reach for regularly. The heat builds up slowly, creating a stinging sensation that might not appeal to everyone.

Conclusion

Out of the four flavors, our top picks are the Baked Ripples Sour Cream & Onion for their unique texture and sweet onion flavor, and the Everything but the Bagel Kettle Chips for their satisfying crunch. The Baked Ripples Ranch and Hot Honey Kettle Chips were less impressive, with the former lacking strong flavor and the latter having a heat level that may not be to everyone's taste.
