Today, Kevin and I are sampling Fit Joy's grain-free cracker rounds, specifically the Classic, Cheesy White Cheddar, and Pepper Jack flavors. Priced at $3.50 each at The Fresh Market, these crackers are both on the shelf and featured on an endcap. Intrigued by the Pepper Jack variety, a favorite of ours, we decided to give them a try.
Product Overview
Fit Joy's crackers are allergen-friendly, being gluten-free, grain-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and GMO-free. Originating from Austin, Texas, and manufactured in Mexico, they come in an 8 oz box containing 13 servings. Each serving, consisting of four crackers, varies slightly in calorie and sodium content across the different flavors.
Classic Grain-Free Cracker Rounds
At 90 calories per serving with 150 mg of sodium, the Classic variety doesn't resemble a Ritz cracker in appearance or taste. The crackers are surprisingly salty, leaving a strong, lingering saltiness that overpowers the other flavors. Despite their allergen-friendly appeal, the excessive salt content might be a turn-off for many.
Cheesy White Cheddar
With 80 calories and 120 mg of sodium per serving, the Cheesy White Cheddar rounds are slightly less salty but still don't deliver a strong cheese flavor. The texture is similar to a soft cookie rather than a traditional cracker. The underlying flavors from the grain-free flour blend and seasonings don't quite hit the mark for a cheddar taste.
Pepper Jack
The Pepper Jack flavor, which we were most excited about, also falls short in delivering the expected cheese taste. With 80 calories and 125 mg of sodium per serving, these crackers have a subtle peppery tingle but still come across as very salty. The seasoning is mild and doesn't strongly reflect the jalapeƱo and bell pepper listed in the ingredients.
Final Thoughts
Overall, while Fit Joy's grain-free crackers offer a good texture and allergen-friendly ingredients, the high salt content and lack of distinctive flavors might disappoint those seeking a healthier alternative to traditional crackers. If you're looking for grain-free snacks, these might be worth a try, but the excessive saltiness could be a drawback. Our ranking from favorite to least favorite is Pepper Jack, Cheesy White Cheddar, and Classic.
