Fruity Cheerios and Peach Mango Cheerios

Today, Kevin and I are reviewing the new Fruity Cheerios and Peach Mango Cheerios. Both family-size boxes were purchased at Walmart for $4.30 each. Each box contains 1 lb 2.4 oz (521 g) of cereal, made by General Mills. The cereals are a good source of calcium, fiber, and 12 vitamins and minerals, and are gluten-free. They are also made with 100% whole grain oats, which can help lower cholesterol as part of a healthy diet.

Fruity Cheerios

A serving size of one cup (36 g) contains 140 calories without milk. The cereal has a vibrant, patriotic appearance with red, white, blue, and a touch of green. The taste is remarkably similar to Froot Loops, with a dominant lemon-like flavor. While Kevin could still detect the underlying Cheerios flavor, I found it indistinguishable from Froot Loops. Despite the similarity, the Fruity Cheerios rings are smaller and crunchier than Froot Loops.

The box claims every bowl is filled with fruity flavor and colorful fun, and it invites you to find 20 pairs of hidden items in the colorful O's. However, this did not affect the taste, which remained consistently reminiscent of Froot Loops.

Peach Mango Cheerios

This limited-edition cereal boasts no artificial flavors or colors from artificial sources. One cup (36 g) also contains 140 calories. Despite the enticing promise of peach and mango flavors, the taste was underwhelming. Both Kevin and I noticed only a faint hint of peach after swallowing, with the dominant flavor being that of regular Cheerios.

The box describes Peach Mango Cheerios as "bursting with the vibrant flavor of peaches and mango," but this was not our experience. The cereal is shiny and coated, yet it fails to deliver the promised flavors.

Comparison and Conclusion

Nutritionally, Fruity Cheerios and Froot Loops are quite similar, with minor differences in calories, fat, sodium, and protein. Parents concerned about artificial colors might prefer Cheerios, but both cereals contain similar color additives.

For those who enjoy Cheerios, Fruity Cheerios might be a delightful change with its fruity twist. However, Peach Mango Cheerios did not live up to its flavor expectations and tasted much like regular Cheerios.

Overall, if you are looking for a Froot Loops alternative, Fruity Cheerios is a worthy option. Peach Mango Cheerios, on the other hand, may not offer the distinctive peach and mango flavors as advertised.
