Today, Kevin and I are reviewing Kellogg's Eggo Belgian-Style Street Waffles. We have three flavors: Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Chip, and Buttery Maple. These waffles are priced at $4.99 each at Meijer, and come four to a box. They are advertised as baked with flavor and ready to eat, making them a convenient grab-and-go option.
Each box contains only four waffles, which was a bit surprising compared to other Eggo products that usually offer six or more. The preparation options are versatile: you can thaw them at room temperature for about an hour, toast them, air fry at 300°F for 2-3 minutes, or microwave for 20-30 seconds.
For our review, we decided to toast the Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Chip waffles and microwave the Buttery Maple flavor.
Vanilla Bean Waffle Review
The Vanilla Bean waffle has a nice vanilla aroma and flavor, reminiscent of a vanilla pound cake. It's not overly sweet but has a pleasant taste that can be enjoyed plain or with various toppings like flavored syrups or spreads.
Chocolate Chip Waffle Review
The Chocolate Chip waffle contains semi-sweet chocolate chips. It’s less sweet than the Vanilla Bean but still enjoyable. The chocolate flavor is mild, making it a good option for those who prefer a subtler taste.
Buttery Maple Waffle Review
The Buttery Maple waffle has a strong maple scent and flavor. It was microwaved, and while it did become slightly moist on the bottom, it wasn’t soggy. This flavor has the most sugar crystals, adding a delightful crunch. The maple flavor is sweet without being overpowering.
Conclusion
All three flavors are enjoyable, with the Vanilla Bean being our top pick for its simplicity and versatility. The Buttery Maple is the sweetest, and the Chocolate Chip offers a balanced chocolate flavor. These waffles are filling and convenient for any time of the day, not just breakfast.
If you store them at room temperature, they can last up to 15 days, making them an easy pantry staple. For optimal taste, we recommend warming them slightly before eating.
