Today, Kevin and I are excited to share our thoughts on three boba drinks from the Madam Hong Lady Boba line. We discovered these at Dollar Tree for just $1.25 each. While there may be other flavors available, we tried the Classic Bubble Tea, Brown Sugar, and Taro varieties.
These drinks were not refrigerated at Dollar Tree, but we chilled them before tasting. The cans suggest shaking well before drinking to mix the tapioca pearls evenly. Each can contains 10.7 fluid ounces (315 ml) and is a product of Taiwan.
Classic Bubble Tea
The Classic Bubble Tea has a strong green tea flavor with a hint of grassiness, but not overpowering. It's not as sweet as I typically prefer, offering a more earthy taste compared to traditional Lipton tea. The tapioca pearls have a familiar rubbery texture. Despite its affordability, the quality is comparable to higher-priced options, making it a good value at Dollar Tree. At 162 calories per can, it’s a relatively low-calorie option.
Brown Sugar Bubble Tea
Next, we tried the Brown Sugar flavor, which is noticeably sweeter with a delightful brown sugar taste. The drink is thin, similar to chocolate milk but not as thick. If you enjoy a sweet, dessert-like beverage, this one is for you. The 181 calories per can reflect its sugary profile. The large straws provided make it easy to consume the tapioca pearls, adding to the experience.
Taro Bubble Tea
Finally, we sampled the Taro Bubble Tea, which was our favorite. This drink has a unique, sweet flavor reminiscent of caramel or chocolate, although not exactly either. At 183 calories, it’s slightly higher in calories but worth it for the taste. The flavor is sweet and satisfying, making it the best of the three we tried.
Overall Impressions
These Madam Hong Lady Boba drinks are fun to try and offer a good balance of flavor and value. While they might not replace a visit to a specialty boba shop, they're a convenient and affordable alternative. If you enjoy bubble tea and are looking for a low-calorie option, these canned drinks are worth a try.
If you have a sweet tooth, the Brown Sugar and Taro flavors are especially recommended. For those who prefer a more traditional tea taste, the Classic Bubble Tea is a solid choice.
