Meiji Chocolate: A Taste Test of Black and Milk Varieties

Today, Kevin and I are trying Meiji brand chocolates from Japan. Meiji is known for its colorful packaging and variety of flavors, including strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. We found these chocolates at World Market for $3.99 each. Unboxing and Initial Impressions The packaging is reminiscent of old-school cigarette packs, which was a bit nostalgic for us. Upon opening, we discovered two types: black chocolate and milk chocolate. The chocolates are shaped similarly to Andes mints and come in neat blocks. Black Chocolate The black chocolate claims to have a distinctive flavor and rich aroma. It contains 190 calories per seven pieces. Each piece is small and engraved with the Meiji brand name. Despite being labeled as "black chocolate," it wasn’t as bitter as we anticipated. It had a pleasant crispness without being overwhelmingly bitter.
