Raylicious Rico Fongo Strips and Chips

Hey everyone, welcome back to 5 Minute Eats! Today, we're diving into Raylicious Rico Fongo Strips and Chips. These snacks come in a 3.5 oz bag priced at $2.49 plus tax. The mix includes yucca chips, plantain chips, and pork skins, all flavored with lime and chili. 

Ray Snacks, based in Philadelphia, has been offering a wide range of snacks since 2001. Their product lineup includes cakes, cookies, danishes, donuts, muffins, cinnamon buns, nuts, candies, chips, meat snacks, and more. We stumbled upon these at a gas station and were intrigued by the unique name, "Raylicious."

We were excited to try this mix, especially with the fun name, Rico Fongo. Let's break down each component of the snack mix:

These were the most disappointing part. The yucca chips were bland and lacked any seasoning. The texture was inconsistent; some chips were extremely hard like kettle chips, while others were more delicate. 

The plantain chips were slightly better but still lacked sufficient seasoning. They had a chewy texture, making them less enjoyable to eat. 

The pork skins were the highlight, well-seasoned with lime and chili. However, they too had issues with texture, with some pieces being on the stale side.

Overall, this mix was a letdown. We were hoping for a flavorful snack experience, but instead, it was quite bland. The yucca and plantain chips did not live up to our expectations, and the pork skins, while decent, could not save the mix.

- Plantain Chips: Thumbs down - Chewy and under-seasoned.

- Pork Skins: Thumbs down - Seasoned but some were stale.

Raylicious, you need to step up your game. If you're marketing something as "better than delicious," it needs to be consistently high quality. Unfortunately, this snack mix doesn't meet that mark.

If you're looking for great pork skins, there are much better options available, especially if you're in cities known for high-quality snacks like Chicago or Los Angeles.
