Review of Takis: Sticks and Waves

Hey everyone! Today, Andre and I are going to be trying Takis. I have the Takis Sticks, and Andre has the Takis Waves. We've got two different flavors here: I have the Flare Sticks, and Andre has the Dragon Sweet Chili Waves. Both of these are new flavors. We've also got the new Blue Heat flavor. While we've reviewed these flavors in stick form on our channel before, this is our first time trying them as chips.

We bought these at Walmart. The sticks were $3.38, and the chips were $3.78. Both products are made in Mexico by Bimbo Snacks and distributed from Coppell, Texas.

Takis Sticks: Flare

The Takis Flare Sticks come in packs of 35 pieces, which is about 150 calories. These sticks are not rolled like traditional Takis but are instead similar to little noodles. The texture is quite chewy and not what we expected. They remind us of little Chinese noodles, but not in a good way. The flavor is overwhelmingly lime, which sticks to your mouth and has an almost pasty texture.

Takis Waves: Dragon Sweet Chili

The Dragon Sweet Chili Waves offer 13 pieces for 160 calories. The packaging suggests a spicy-sweet flavor, similar to sweet and sour chicken. While there's a bit of heat, it's not overwhelming. The sweet and sour flavor is quite nice, but we wish it wasn't overshadowed by the heat. If the heat were reduced, these chips could be excellent.

Takis Waves: Blue Heat

The Blue Heat Waves come with 15 pieces for 150 calories. These chips are vibrant blue, but the flavor is disappointing. Despite being labeled as "extreme," they primarily taste like lime with no significant heat. The vinegar-like taste is overpowering, and we wouldn't recommend these either.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, none of these flavors impressed us enough to buy again. The Flare Sticks had a bad texture, the Dragon Sweet Chili Waves were too spicy, and the Blue Heat Waves were too limey. If they reduced the heat, the Dragon Sweet Chili flavor could stand out as a good option. However, as they are now, we wouldn't recommend any of these Takis flavors.
