Stone Ridge Creamery Ice Cream: Maple Caramel, Denali Original Moose Tracks, Caramel Waffle Cone

Today, Kevin and I are excited to try some ice cream from Stone Ridge Creamery. We picked up three flavors: Denali Moose Tracks, Caramel Waffle Cone, and Maple Caramel, each costing $4 at Jungle Jim's International Market in Ohio. This is our first time encountering Stone Ridge Creamery, a brand distributed out of Providence, Rhode Island.

Denali Moose Tracks

Description: Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups and the famous Moose Tracks fudge.

Nutrition: 230 calories per 2/3 cup (87g). The container has nine servings.

Review:

  • The vanilla ice cream was creamy and delicious, complemented by generous swirls of chocolate fudge.
  • The peanut butter cups were crunchy and added a great texture.
  • The chocolate had a gritty texture, which was a bit polarizing. Some bites felt sandy, but the larger, sugary grains were enjoyable.
  • Overall, the flavor combination of vanilla, chocolate, and peanut butter was delightful. This one is a winner for us.

Caramel Waffle Cone

Description: Caramel ice cream with swirls of caramel and chocolate-covered waffle cone pieces.

Nutrition: 210 calories per 2/3 cup (87g).

Review:

  • The caramel ice cream was sweet without being overpowering.
  • The chocolate-covered waffle cone pieces varied in texture; some were chewy, and others were slightly crunchy.
  • The flavor of the waffle pieces left an artificial aftertaste, which detracted from the overall enjoyment.
  • The caramel swirls were generous and tasty, but the inconsistency in the waffle pieces made this flavor less appealing. We would probably pick around the waffle pieces next time.

Maple Caramel

Description: Maple ice cream swirled with salty maple caramel.

Nutrition: 180 calories per 2/3 cup (87g).

Review:

  • The maple flavor was very strong, bordering on artificial, which overpowered the ice cream.
  • The salty maple caramel swirl was delicious and balanced the sweetness well.
  • Unfortunately, the artificial taste of the maple ice cream itself dominated most bites.
  • This flavor didn’t hit the mark for us due to the overpowering maple.

Final Thoughts

Overall, we were impressed with the quality and flavor combinations of Stone Ridge Creamery. The Denali Moose Tracks was our favorite, followed by the Caramel Waffle Cone, and lastly, the Maple Caramel. We appreciate that these ice creams were sealed, ensuring freshness.

Next Steps:

  • We’re curious if Stone Ridge Creamery is available in other regions and what additional flavors might be worth trying.
  • If you have tried these flavors or others from Stone Ridge, let us know your thoughts and where you typically purchase them.
