Hey everyone, welcome back to Five Minute Eats! It's Takeout Tuesday, where we review takeout from casual dining restaurants. Today, we’re diving into a classic American favorite: Texas Roadhouse. We’re reviewing their half slab ribs meal, priced at $19.99.
What’s in the Meal?
For $19.99, you get:
- Half slab of ribs: Slow-cooked with a unique blend of seasonings and signature BBQ sauce.
- Two sides: We chose a loaded baked potato (sour cream, butter, cheese, and bacon) and green beans (cooked with bacon).
Additionally, we received three rolls, accompanied by a small amount of cinnamon honey butter.
Ordering Experience
Our takeout experience was less than ideal. Despite receiving a text to park in the designated to-go area, I had to call and was instructed to come inside to pick up the order. The staff seemed indifferent, adding to the frustration, especially as it was pouring rain and I had a child with me.
Meal Review
1. Ribs:
- Pros: Generous meat portion, falls off the bone, well-seasoned, and rich in BBQ flavor.
- Cons: Messy to eat, and no extra sauce provided for dipping.
2. Loaded Baked Potato:
- Pros: Comes with classic toppings like sour cream, butter, cheese, and bacon.
- Cons: The potato was small and undercooked, with a bland flavor overall.
3. Green Beans:
- Pros: Flavored with bacon, which adds a smoky, meaty taste.
- Cons: Could use more seasoning like salt and pepper.
4. Rolls:
- Pros: Soft, slightly sweet, and enjoyable even without butter.
- Cons: The provided butter was insufficient for the three rolls.
Ratings
- Thumbs Up: The ribs were flavorful, falling off the bone, and generously portioned. The green beans were a hit due to the added bacon flavor.
- Thumbs Down: The baked potato was underwhelming, and the ordering process was frustrating. Insufficient butter for the rolls was a notable downside.
Final Thoughts
For $19.99, the meal offers a decent value, especially considering the portion sizes. However, the overall experience at Texas Roadhouse was mixed. While the ribs and green beans impressed, the baked potato and customer service fell short.
