Toasted Flat Breads - Sea Salt & Olive Oil vs. Italian Herb

Kevin and I tried the toasted flat breads: Sea Salt & Olive Oil and Italian Herb, each priced at $3.48 from Walmart's random display. The packaging indicates 16 servings per container, with eight crackers per serving, totaling 70 calories. They are perfect for dipping and pair well with various dips, though they have robust flavors on their own.

The Sea Salt & Olive Oil flavor offers a subtle yet distinct taste of garlic and onion, with a satisfying crunchy texture. Surprisingly, despite its name, it's not overly salty. On the other hand, the Italian Herb variant, while enjoyable, doesn't deliver the expected Italian seasoning punch. Its flavor profile leans more towards garlic and onion, lacking the anticipated Italian flair.

Sea Salt & Olive Oil:

  • Flavor Profile: Offers a subtle yet discernible taste of garlic and onion, complemented by a hint of olive oil. The sea salt isn't overpowering, making it suitable for those who prefer milder flavors.
  • Texture: Delivers a satisfying crunch, ideal for pairing with dips or enjoying on its own.
  • Caloric Content: 70 calories per serving, with no artificial colors or flavors, and no high fructose corn syrup.
  • Versatility: Perfect for casual snacking or as a base for various dips, providing a balanced blend of flavors without being overly salty.

Italian Herb:

  • Flavor Profile: Surprisingly leans more towards garlic and onion than traditional Italian herbs like oregano or basil. Lacks the expected Italian seasoning intensity.
  • Texture: Similar satisfying crunch as the Sea Salt & Olive Oil variant, making it equally suitable for dipping.
  • Caloric Content: 70 calories per serving, comparable to the Sea Salt & Olive Oil variant.
  • Distinctiveness: While enjoyable, it doesn't deliver the anticipated Italian herb flavors, resembling more of a garlic and onion profile.

In terms of calorie count, both options offer a reasonable snack choice, with slight differences in sodium content. While we expected the Italian Herb to be our favorite, the Sea Salt & Olive Oil won us over with its flavorful simplicity and versatile pairing options.

These crackers are reminiscent of Sociables but offer a distinct taste and texture. Perfect for parties or casual snacking, they provide a satisfying crunch and flavor experience. Availability may vary by location, but they are worth a try if you come across them.
